Will used to think his life was a joke – but he was wrong, it's more like 300. Brace yourself for more jokes than you thought possible.

Hi Will, thank you for talking to The New Current, how have you been keeping during these strange times?

My family and I have become a lot closer over the pandemic. We’re now at one metre.

How was the experience of being part of NBC’s Trial by Laughter Season 8?

We recorded the whole season of shows at a huge comedy club in Indianapolis and the whole thing was fantastic from start to finish. I would say that though, I won every round and placed third in the final.

As a Malcom Hardee Award Winner what did winning this award mean to you?

It was the only comedy award given out at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2021 so I guess it means I'm the reigning Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner.

You had an amazing run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2021 and the response was incredible, did you imagine you would get such rave reviews?

It was a strange year for me because I had just changed the way I approach comedy to make it more fun for me to perform. I wanted to combine the two things I love most about comedy; honest autobiographical narrative and one-liners. As it happens it’s pretty unique to do that and my audiences loved my work-in-progress shows during that run. The press even likened my show to nineties petrol. Four stars.

What was the strangest/funniest comment you got for your show in 2021?

One guy and his wife told me, “We’ve seen six shows so far this Fringe and your show has more jokes than all of them combined.” Don’t you just love guys like that? In order to give me a compliment he had to degrade six other comedians. I’m glad him and his wife were at the show though. They were far better than the other ninety-eight idiots.

How does it feel to be able to bring My Life in One-Liners to The Gilded Balloon this summer?

They begged and pleaded to get me and I’ve always found that attractive so I’m excited.

"My show has 301 jokes in it and the audience get to choose which 300 they like."

What can you tell me about My Life in One-Liners and what does this show say about you?

I can’t believe you just asked me that. The answer is in the title.

Has there ever been a joke that falls flat but you refuse to cut it from your show?

Every show will have one joke that fails and it’s never the same joke. My show has 301 jokes in it and the audience get to choose which 300 they like.

And finally, what do you hope your audiences will take away from My Life in One-Liners?

Merch.
